Every docomo user has an identifier called i-modeID. Using this, users have been able to single sign on to the mobile sites using docomo handsets, making one-click payment, and so on. These kind of features were one of the reason for the great success of the mobile commerce in Japan. However, this merit has not been extended to the non-docomo handset world, notably PC. For PC, docomo has been offering a separate identifier called “docomo ID” but since it remained independent of “i-modeID”, it did not enjoy the same kind of popularity.

This situation was changed today by linking the two identifiers by OpenID.

From today, a user can login to a site using “docomo ID” as an OpenID, then the site can obtain “i-mode ID” that is linked to the “docomo ID” transparently. It is expected that the payment on the PC sites through “i-mode payment service” would accelerate the contents sales through PC.

NTT docomo published the docomoID Authentication Technical Specification on their Web site. As an OP Identifier, one should specify “https://i.mydocomo.com/“. As a normal claimed identifier, one should specify “https://i.mydocomo.com/id/{user_unique_identifier}” where {user_unique_identifier}” is a random alpha-numeric string that is unique to the user-realm pair.

One peculiar feature of docomo’s implementation is that, to provide “i-mode ID” to the contents providers, contents providers should call a very simple GET API after they obtained the OpenID Assertion. The decision seems to have been made to avoid the transmission of i-mode ID through browsers, which may act as a man-in-the-middle attack point as users’ PC environment is not particularly safe. Using OAuth for this purpose seems to have been an option, but docomo seems to have decided that requiring it on top of OpenID to the contents provider seemed to be a little too demanding. Thus, they devised this extremely simple API. Together with it, docomo also defined a kind of contact service API, which allows the content provider to send mail [*1] to the user’s mobile phone without sharing the mail address.

According to their official page, there are 55,692,500 docomo subscribers as of February, 2010. Japan’s population over 15 as of Feb. 1, 2010 is 110,470,000.

IdeaBox is a web site that solicits the idea for IT Policy widely. At the site, people can propose policy and discuss about them, and vote on them. METI positions it as a network based committee which is open to public. A similar site was operated last year from October to November and attracted over 1700 policy idea.

This version of IdeaBox, which opend on Feb.23  accepts OpenID so that one can login with the account at mixi, Yahoo! Japan, Livedoor and Google. It has various other social components so that one can also tweet about it directly from the site, bookmark it on delicous and hatena bookmark, etc. This version runs until March 15.

After Holden is asked to leave Pencey High School after winter break [expelled], Holden ditches school early to take a little “vacation” to New York City; he packs and leaves by train in the hopes of enjoying himself before returning home to his parent’s wrath. In the few days he spends in New York , he experiences the city’s nightlife through strippers, bars, and night clubs. In contrast, he also spends his free time by revisiting his childhood, reuniting himself with old friends and visiting sentimental places. Holden seems to have a lot of friends, although it is obvious he is not confident about friendships. Holden degradingly numbers off girls throughout the story and therefore his character becomes bothersome. However most of the time it is very easy to sympathize for Holden as he is in deep distress, and he feels that he is surrounded by a bunch of “phonies”. No matter who he associates himself with, whether it is an old friend or a stripper, he feels out of place. The more Holden observes and aquaints himself with humankind in New York City, the more he realizes he is different, and the more he feel like he is without purpose. His inner-struggles and battling of the mind eventually peaks causing for a catchy ending. However, the author does not fill the ending with detail and it can be very frusterating.

I swear, I couldn’t even get through the book, I had to stop reading it because it was filled with so much fluff and mary sueism. Why does everyone in town fawn over Bella, It’s not like she’s the nicest person you could ever meet. It’s not like she’s approachable or outgoing? And she comes off as snobbish as if she’s only humoring the small town folk when she does converse with them and she makes sure she’s an outsider by eluding their company whenever she can. I mean, damn, what is so great about this series with it’s repetative, non-cohesive writing. The book reads like a 12 year old’s boring diary. So much so, I felt like I was in a time loop, rolling around and around in this story that really wasn’t going anywhere. And the little action that I did make it through was based solely off of Bella’s stupidity, like wanting to be alone in a strange city and needing to be saved by Edward. I could have done without that dumb

If you get one book a year, then GET THIS BOOOOOK!!!

Every part of it makes you want to read more, every scheme or plan makes you wonder what the next is going to be, and every time you finish a book in this series, you just can’t wait till the next.

And just the style of Eion Colfer’s writing is almost enough t make you think like you’re in the story.
Skeleton X Ray Design

I purchased this WD Passport Essential (500gb) external hard drive as mobile device to be utilized to archive data and documents. Upon first use of the drive I immediately realized that the drive is intended as a `back-up’ drive only, as it does not allow the capability to create folders on it, and also does not allow for drag-and-drop of files and data. The drive is write protected (acts like a CDRW), and the only way you can utilize it is to use the provided software, which again is geared for backing up you system only.

I additionally and immediately had significant issues with the drive maintaining a connection with the supplier USB cord – the design of the cord connections is obviously flawed.

I do not recommend this drive, and I immediately returned it the next day after purchasing, in favor of the Toshiba portable drive which of course allows for drag-and-drop, folder control (and was a little cheaper), and being utilized as an actual additional drive.

Western Digital My Passport

Going into the story, it’s expected that the book is going to be a sweet young adult novel, nothing too unexpected. But then when you sit down and read it you get the feeling someone’s playing a joke on you… such great reviews for such a weak drawn-out story?

The first three-quarters of the book are for the most the protagonist lamenting about how she’s clumsy, doesn’t like Forks, that the Cullens (especially Edward) are beautiful, and that she herself is nothing special. Personally, I would have enjoyed Twilight Condensed much more…it’s an interesting enough premise, the execution was just disappointing.
